Where and when will the conference be held?
The Conference will be in Bali, Indonesia – Island of the Gods, from August 27-29th, 2008. Will be held at the Sanur Beach Hotel, Jl. Danau Tamblingan. 20 minutes by taxi from the airport. The venue is located right on the beach. Transportation around Sanur is super simple with the constant stream of moving green minivan buses called Beemo’s for 2,000 rupiah! How do I register for the conference?
You can register on line, just click here to go to that page.

How do I pay for the conference fees?
Payment by remittance or by credit card (Visa or Master card). Also payment online via paypal. Details are on the registration form.

Can I register for the conference now and pay the conference fees when I arrive?
Unfortunately, you have to pay the conference fees at the point of registration. We will not be accepting payment at the conference venue.

What are the daily conference hours?
9..00 A.M to 6.00 P.M.

What kind of food will be served during the conference?
All food served at the conference will be vegetarian on the whole and as vegan as possible.

Are there other hotels available, other than those listed on the website?
Yes. However, rates for the hotels suggested have been reduced for conference delegates and are reasonably close to the conference venue. Please see the list or Google Sanur Hotels. Make sure you are staying in SANUR if you google for special discounts. Near Sanur is not going to work for you! Make sure you ask ‘Can I catch a Bemo from the Hotel and how far is your hotel from Jl. Danau Tamblingan’. YOU MUST BE WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF Jl. TAMBLINGAN or your transportation will be difficult!

Can you book my accommodation for me?
Sorry. You have to contact the hotel directly to make the booking. Please remember to quote ‘"Asia For Animals"” for the reduced rates as we have blocked the rooms.

I need a letter to apply for my visa, can Yudisthira (the host) provide me with one?
Yes, please contact us and provide us with your full name and passport number. We'll send you a letter shortly.

Do I need a visa to enter Bali?
Some countries are visa on arrival others not.

How do I get from the airport to the hotel?
A taxi transportation is available at the airport right as you come out the door to your left. Counters saying “Pre-paid Taxis are clearly visible as you leave the arrivals area at the airport. The present cost for a taxi to the city center / convention center is under US $10. Someone from Yudisthira will be outside the door as you leave customs. There will be an AfA sign. Also when you book your reservation at the Sanur Beach Hotel for an additional $6USD the hotel will pick you up.

What will the weather be like?
Bali, Indonesia has a tropical climate. During August, the high is around 28 degrees and night time temperatures will be just below 23. Rainfall in August is very rare and if it does rain it will be at night. This is on of the best months in Bali as there is a lovely breeze all of the time.

What currency does Bali use?
Indonesian Rupiah. There are money changers everywhere. Present rate of exchange is about 9,200 IDR to a 1 US$.

What is the time in Chennai relative to GMT?
9 hours plus GMT.or 8 hours ahead of London time.

What power points are used in Bali?
220 volts, 50 cycles. Adapters are available. At the hotel to take plugs of various sizes.

Is a money changer available near the conference venue?
Yes. At the Hotel and all around the place.

Where can I buy simple groceries?
We have supermarkets just down the road from the hotel and small time grocers around the area.

What is the international calling code for Bali?

Indonesia Country code is +62. To call out, check with your hotel for the long distance service provider. Generally 001 or 007 will work.

Are pharmacies or doctors available near the conference venue?
Yes.

Is vegetarian food easy to find in Bali?
Yes but not vegan restaraunts. All restaraunts will sell vegetables.
